A Simple Approach to Styling Open Shelves

Give each shelf a little breathing room. Combine books, pottery, and framed artwork rather than lining up lots of similarly sized objects. Small groups are easier to read than a crowded row.
Mix upright books with a short horizontal stack and leave space around larger pieces. Repeat a few finishes across the shelves, then vary the shape and scale so the arrangement feels collected rather than identical.
